MGLC Summer in Tivoli: Igor Božanić and Veja, concerts

Igor Božanić

Igor Božanić is a singer-songwriter from Banja Luka. Since 2017, he has released several EPs in English, performed at festivals across the region and received a nomination for the Milan Mladenović Award in 2019. He has appeared as a guest performer at concerts by Marissa Nadler and Dunja Knebl in Zagreb, the band Passenger in Ljubljana and Damir Imamović in Belgrade.

In 2021, he released the album Runo on the Belgrade-based label Pop Depresija, signalling a new musical direction, drawing inspiration from the traditional melodies of the region.

In 2025, in collaboration with Srđan and Pavle Popov, he released the album Žega, inspired by sevdalinka and the traditional songs of Banja Luka’s urban milieu. The album entered both global and European world music charts.

Veja

Often described by the Croatian media as “an ethno gem from the heart of Istria”, the group Veja was founded in Pazin almost two decades ago by singer, multi-instrumentalist and dedicated researcher of folk traditions Goran Farkaš.

In their original compositions, they interweave Dinaric and Italian melodies, and draw inspiration from local legends and sagas. In this way, they create a distinctive Istrian mosaic of sounds that has become the group’s trademark, while their contemporary approach also brings traditional musical heritage closer to younger generations.

In the idyllic setting of Plečnikov avditorij, they will perform their hits and tracks from their new, third album, which is due to be released later this year.
