Location

One Museum, Two Locations

The MGLC is located in Tivoli Mansion and Švicarija. The two interesting buildings with a rich history are in close proximity, a great opportunity for a double experience in a single visit.

Tivoli Mansion

Tivoli Mansion is located at the end of Jakopič Promenade in Tivoli Park.

Švicarija

Švicarija is located behind Tivoli Mansion. It takes about 3 minutes to walk the 150 metres. To the right of Tivoli Mansion, at Pod Turnom, there is a long staircase leading up to Švicarija. Alternatively, you can take the path behind the mansion that leads you uphill.

Accessibility

How to get there

We are located at the foot of Rožnik Hill in the protected Tivoli, Rožnik and Šišenski hrib Landscape Park. You can visit us on foot or by bike and enjoy the picturesque nature and fresh air.

On Foot

Tivoli Mansion and Švicarija can be reached from different directions. From the city centre, Šiška or Rožna dolina, it takes about 15 minutes to get here.

By Bike

A bicycle is the fastest way to get here. You can leave it in the parking spot to the right of Tivoli Mansion or in the designated parking space in the garden in front of Švicarija. The nearest Bicikelj city bike rental stops are on Celovška and Cankarjeva Roads, and at the junction of Erjavčeva Street and Škrabčeva Street.

Public transport

Ljubljana Passenger Transport buses stop at the following bus stops in the vicinity: Konzorcij/Pošta (buses no. 6, 9, 14), Tivoli (1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 25), Pod Rožnikom (14), Svetčeva (18) and Cankarjev dom (14, 18). From there, you continue on foot.

If you arrive at Ljubljana Central Station by bus or train, you can use the city bus number 18 at the starting stop Kolodvor.

Cars and Parking

You can park your car in the Tivoli car park or in one of the car parks in Šiška, the city centre or Rožna dolina. Driving and parking in the park are not allowed.

Visitors with special needs

Tivoli Mansion is wheelchair accessible. The Švicarija building has a lift and adapted toilets. On prior arrangement, visitors in wheelchairs can use their own transport across the park and park for free directly behind Tivoli Mansion or Švicarija. Before visiting, please call our Info Point for assistance on the following number: +386 1 241 38 12.

We have prepared a tactile and audio guide to Švicarija for blind and partially-sighted visitors. There are two tactile maps available at Tivoli Mansion to help you find your way around the building. For more information, please contact the MGLC Info Point on arrival (in the Tivoli Mansion or in Švicarija), where we will be happy to help you.

On prior arrangement, we offer tailor-made guided tours of exhibitions, guided tours with sign language interpreters and workshops based on the content of temporary exhibitions.

Admission is free for visitors with special needs and their companions.

Bringing your dog

We are a dog-friendly museum, so dogs are welcome. Your four-legged friends can accompany you to the exhibitions, and we have provided a quiet space for them to wait and refresh themselves. For safety reasons, please make sure that the animal is on a leash and does not disturb other visitors.

Ticket prices are subject to change during the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts.

Included in price

The entrance fee is charged for visiting our main exhibition space or gallery and can be paid at the MGLC Info Point.

Free of charge

The following premises are available free of charge:

  • Švicarija with the Stojan Batič Memorial Studio, a shop and a bistro,
  • the ground floor of Tivoli Mansion with a temporary exhibition, museum shop and Caffe Bienale.

Free admission to the MGLC Gallery is exceptionally possible on Doors Open Days and during the opening of the exhibition in the MGLC Gallery (two hours after the beginning).

Some events are also free to attend. For detailed price information, please find the event of your choice on our website.


Etiquette

Food and drinks are not allowed at the exhibitions. They are available at Caffe Bienale and Bistro Švicarija.

No large bags or umbrellas may be taken to the exhibitions, the cloakroom is in the gallery. Toilet facilities are located in the gallery on the first floor and in the ground floor of Tivoli Mansion, by the entrance by the ticket office on the right, and on the ground floor of Švicarija in the bistro.

Photography is allowed on our premises. You are sure to find an attractive spot with an interesting backdrop, so bring your camera or simply use your mobile device.
