MGLC’s collections constitute the largest Slovenian collection of prints and art publications created after World War Two and the only public collection of modernist prints, which contains more than 10,000 works. The special characteristic of the collections is that they contain solely works on paper and the related objects such as prints, art publications, drawings and photographs. The Study Room
The Study Room was established due to increasing public interest and as a complement to study. It is intended for in-depth research of art publications and occasionally serves as an exhibition venue.
In the Study Room, visitors can have a look at artists’ books, for MGLC’s collections contain not only prints, but also various types of art publications that share the same reproduction technique (from artists’ books, art newspapers and cultural magazines to posters, sound art media and theoretical literature). MGLC’s collection of art publications already contains more than 4,000 works.
Visitors can browse issues of Viks, an art and culture magazine, and most issues of the Point d'Ironie hybrid newspaper, Gorgona, SMS, 0 TO 9 and Pist Prota. The collection also includes the posters and notices of the FV group (donated by Neven Korda), the archive of the Scarecrow Statelet (donated by Milena Kosec), an extensive archive of the happening on the Zagreb art scene from the 1970s to the 1990s, the complete archive of Bernard Villers’ self-published Éditions du Remorquer and the collection of original newspaper projects titled museum in progress from Der Standard.
