The Sreda v sredo group receives the Audience Award

The Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts has a long tradition of awarding prizes, dating back to the first edition of the Biennale in 1955, and since 2013, the Audience Award has also been included among its prizes. Voting for the Audience Award of the 35th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts took place on the Biennale website and ended on Friday, 5 January 2024. The artist to receive the most votes was the Sreda v sredo group, which is showing its art prints at this year's edition of the Biennale at MGLC Tivoli Mansion, while its studio on Štefanova ulica is also one of the Biennale venues. As a recipient of the Audience Award, the group will have the opportunity to produce works in the MGLC Print Studio.

The Sreda v sredo (SVS) group was founded in Ljubljana in 2019. In the basement of one of the three famous Dukič apartment blocks (1935) in the centre of Ljubljana, the members of the group (Žiga Artnak, Urban Cerjak and Matic Flajs) converted a disused boiler room into a print workshop inspired by "Do It Together" thinking, where they work alone or with guests, mainly using intaglio printmaking techniques. Within the framework of the 35th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts, they opened their doors to visitors every Friday between 3 and 6 pm as a Biennale venue and at the same time as a relaxed working and meeting place. At seventeen meet-ups, they hosted many different artists and more than 200 visitors from Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Poland, Australia, Slovakia, India and Romania. Together with their guests, they created more than 20 different graphic works.

Congratulations to the Sreda v sredo group on winning the prize!
