In from the Margins

The three-year EU project is based on art residencies carried out in five European countries by migrant artists, or artists marked by a sense of displacement. The partners host the artists on a month-long printmaking residency in their studios. In addition to producing artworks, they also prepare a programme for schools and local migrant communities. The project is socially engaged and based on helping the artists integrate into the new local and cultural environment. The final exhibition with a publication will take place in Edinburgh in 2023.

Residencies based in MGLC hosted six artists: Lina Rica (Croatia), Maja Živko (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Azadeh Hashemzadeh (Iran), Azad Karim (Iraq), Francisco Tomsich (Uruguay), Qëndresë Deda (Kosovo).

The end of the project will be celebrated in Edinburgh in 2023 with the exhibition Uprooted Visions and the symposium Uprooted Visions: How We Create.
