26th Biennial of Graphic Arts Ljubljana
The catalogue of the 26th Biennial of Graphic Arts Ljubljana entitled Thrust, which this time was held for the first time in the former production premises of Tobačna Ljubljana and presented 149 artists in a selection of 18 international graphic institutions. The works were judged by a five-member international jury. Jure Mikuž was the artistic director of the main Biennial exhibition, while Breda Škrjanec and Božidar Zrinski were the curators of the Slovenian part of the Biennial.
A solo retrospective of the winner of the previous Biennial (Raymond Pettibon) and two accompanying exhibitions, The Most Beautiful Prints and The First Line, were also presented as part of the Biennial. The exhibitions were curated by Lilijana Stepančič, Breda Škrjanec, Božidar Zrinski and Ješa Denegri. An exhibition catalogue was also published.
In addition to the introductory texts, the catalogue of the main exhibition also contains accompanying texts by the curators from the invited graphic institutions and a presentation of the symposium of the 26th Biennial of Graphic Arts, which took place on 4 and 5 December 2004 at the International Centre of Graphic Arts. The catalogue is lavishly designed with full colour reproductions. The cover of the catalogue features a photograph of the installation view of the main exhibition and works by the Finnish artists Hanna Oinonen and Tuija Arminen. The graphic design of the catalogue is the work of Martha Stutteregger.
