18th International Biennial of Graphic Arts
The catalogue of the 18th International Biennial of Graphic Arts, which was on view at the International Centre of Graphic Arts, the Museum of Modern Art, Cankarjev dom, the City Art Gallery Ljubljana and other smaller Ljubljana galleries and included works by 558 artists from 63 countries. The works were evaluated by a six-member international jury.
The main biennial exhibition, the personal retrospectives of the award-winners and the accompanying exhibitions were designed by Zoran Kržišnik, Sergej Pavlin, Majda Jerman and Georg Reinhardt. The personal retrospectives of the first five award-winners of the previous edition (Tetsuya Noda, Dan Allison, Elizabeth Ingram, Walter Valentini, Zorica Tasić) were mounted and the accompanying texts and texts by individual national selectors of the main exhibition were published in the catalogue. In addition to the main event, the organisers also prepared special exhibitions, presenting the works of Lojze Logar, Piero Dorazio, Georg Baselitz, André Lanskoy and Giuseppe Santomaso. The exhibition entitled 20 Years of Contemporary Experimental Serigraphy presented the work of technological innovator Fiorenzo Fallani. A special exhibition of contemporary American woodcuts from Arakawa to Winzer was also mounted.
The catalogue is lavishly illustrated in black and white and includes a few colour reproductions of the exhibited works. On the cover is a reproduction of a work by Dan Allison. The catalogue was typographically edited by Srečko Mrak.
