The catalogue to the exhibition presents Štefan Galič as an all-round artist who worked in printmaking, collected butterflies, photographs and designed publications. Štefan Galič (1944–1997) is known in the broader Slovene cultural arena primarily as a printmaker. He is the finest Slovene woodcut artist of the final third of the twentieth century. His unique woodcuts, and in particular the series Records and Fossils, won him general recognition and a number of awards. Galič’s printmaking work is extraordinarily accomplished and inventive from a technical point of view. The woodcut is his original medium, with unusually rich colours and toleration of mistakes on the matrix, nature was his greatest inspiration. The catalogue was produced in collaboration with the Lendava Gallery-Museum. The exhibition was curated by Breda Škrjanec.
