Artist talk and a conversation with Natália Sýkorová
Natália Sýkorová is an artist whose practice engages with technological and ecological questions. Her multilayered projects emerge as ecologies in which performance, sculpture, embodied speculation, role-playing methodologies, technological and other interfaces, sound and non-linear storytelling interweave, often serving as points of departure and spaces for collaboration.
The conversation will introduce the questions and approaches that underpin her work, as well as a broader inquiry into how knowledge – and futures – can be produced differently. It will also consider how artistic practices can disrupt dominant narratives and propose alternative models of futurity. The conversation, which also serves as an introduction to a collective exhibition project to be shown in the autumn at Švicarija, will be moderated by Tjaša Pogačar.
Sýkorová holds a degree from University College London (Bartlett School of Architecture) and a postgraduate degree from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), and is currently a doctoral researcher in Digital Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. She has presented her work at Kunsthalle Bratislava (2023), City Gallery Prague (2025), ACUD Galerie Berlin (2024), MeetFactory Prague (2025) and MuseumsQuartier Vienna (2023), where she was also a Q21 resident. In collaboration with Crosslucid, her work was recently exhibited at the House of Electronic Arts Basel (2025). Future exhibitions include the International Centre of Graphic Arts Ljubljana, BWA Wrocław and GJK Trnava.
The event is organised by MGLC in collaboration with Projekt Atol Institute.
