New Plate and Jazzva

The presentation and talk with the curator Božidar Zrinski and artist Sašo Vrabič will be followed by a performance from the band Jazzva. Welcome to the world of words, sounds, colour and vocal music!

 Sašo Vrabič presents a series of prints entitled New Plate, which he produced in the MGLC Print Studio. The conceptually conceived series unites the artist's interest for creating and interweaving pictorial language, sonic/musical expression and visual poetry. All of this is reflected in the witty titles of the prints, fleeting thoughts and selected words through which he quite literally draws and paints his images. In the given context, the title of the series evokes an association between a vinyl record and a graphic plate. The entire series of prints is produced on the artist's old prints, cut to the format of a record sleeve. The titles of the individual prints inspired Vrabič to compose 12 original songs, which he skilfully arranged on his first solo vinyl record, also entitled New Plate. A limited edition of 55 copies was released to accompany the exhibition.

On their road of exploring the human voice Jazzva writes new stories, seeks harmonies and plays with different tones and effects. They try to find a special relationship with every song and perform it for the listeners as authentically and honestly as possible. Their repertoire consists of many different genres; from pop, rock and jazz to arrangements of folk songs and many more.
