The Culture of Printmaking in the Context of the Examination of the Natural Pigment from Sitarjevec Litija Mine – The Sustainability of Printmaking, presentation

Last year saw the publication Pigment sitarjevec v slikarski tehnologiji in praksi [The Sitarjevec Pigment in Painting Technology and Practice], which discusses the artistic use of the natural pigment sitarjevec from the Litija Mine.

The event introduces advanced possibilities for the use of the ochre pigment known as sitarjevec found in the Litija Mine and presents the starting points, activities and results of the project exploring the possibilities for using the sitarjevec pigment in printmaking. A print portfolio with graphic works by professors and students of the Academy of Applied Arts Rijeka of the University of Rijeka and the Faculty of Education of the University of Ljubljana will also be presented.

The event is organised in cooperation with MGLC by the Academy of Applied Arts Rijeka – APURI, University of Rijeka (project leader: Prof. Melinda Kostelac) and the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana (Prof. Anja Jerčič Jakob).

The presentation will be preceded at 15.00 by a lecture by Jennifer Noonan: USA, Biennials and Cold War Policies.
