On International Museum Day, we invite you to visit our permanent and temporary exhibitions free of charge.

MGLC Grad Tivoli, Pod turnom 3, Park Tivoli, Ljubljana:

Zmago Jeraj, I Take a Long Step Across a Windowsill

The exhibition presents selected paintings, photographs and prints from the early mature phase of Jeraj's oeuvre, from the late 1960s and 1970s, in which he explored the relationship and transition between interior and exterior spaces, inside and outside, closed and open. The title I Take a Long Step Across a Windowsill is borrowed from a story by Bruno Schulz and stems from Jeraj's fascination with the work of the Polish writer and artist. A particularity of the exhibition is its innovative set-up, which attempts to bring the two-dimensionality of the artist's works into a three-dimensional space through unconventional lighting and authentic furniture from the 1960s.

SECRET GARDEN

Creative and sensorial-meditative corner to accompany the exhibition by Zmago Jeraj

All visitors to Zmago Jeraj's exhibition are welcome to step into the Secret Garden, which is open to both individuals and groups. It is a creative space (with a workshop equipped with tools for printmaking) and a meditative dark chamber where poetry and Jeraj's pictorial world merge. The space is sensorially designed, with specially created smell, sound and light, intended for calming the mind, relaxation, meditation and mindfulness.

The workshop is equipped with screenprinting equipment donated by the Jarše Youth Centre.

MGLC Švicarija, Pod turnom 4, Park Tivoli, Ljubljana:

The Shadow Is Seen by My Eyes, the Light Is Seen Only by My Heart, permanent exhibition on the history of Švicarija

Švicarija has always known how to surprise, connect and boldly reformulate its purpose. Many people have worked diligently to ensure that the light in it has never been completely extinguished. Švicarija’s unique past, which was awarded the status of a cultural monument

of local importance in 2013, is summarised by the guiding principle of community, art and nature, which will continue to illuminate its work in the future.

The Stojan Batič Memorial Studio, reconstruction of the artist's studio

The work of Stojan Batič had a strong influence on Slovenian postwar sculpture. The reconstruction of his studio allows visitors to familiarise themselves with the sculptor’s oeuvre, which ranges from drafts for famous monumental works to small sculptures. The studio also houses the artist’s personal belongings, documentation, working tools and artworks that he exchanged with friends.
