Announcing the second episode of the podcast This Is No Art
In the second episode, Nevenka Šivavec talks to Ibrahim Mahama, Artistic Director of the 35th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts. Ibrahim is not only one of the most widely recognised young African artists at the moment, but also an extremely interesting conversation partner whose thinking is not only limited to the role of art as we understand it in the West. In this exchange, which took place a good week before the opening of the Biennale, they touched upon his work but also his private life – his growing up, his studies, his role models and the reasons behind the way he lives and embodies art and its role today.
In the conversation, the Ghanaian artist also recommends certain authors and books that will help open our eyes to a culture and history that is sometimes, at least seemingly, so far removed from our own:
